Complications in patients with spinal cord injury at the Instituto Nacional De Rehabilitación “Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra” from 2015 to 2023.

Abstract
Objective: To Describe the main complications that occur in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) at the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitación “Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra”. Materials and methods: An observational, cross-sectional and comparative study was carried out in the SCI service, of patients with the diagnosis of SCI from 2015 to 2023. Results: 1327 individuals were studied. The most frequent neurological level was the lower thoracic (30.8%) and the majority presented traumatic, complete SCI. 61.9% of subjects presented complicactions, the most frequent were pressure sores, pain and spasticity. We found associations between the different complicactions and some clinical and sociodemographic variables. The majority of injuries were traumatic (64.7%). Conclusions: The majority of patients with SCI presented complications. The most frequent complications were pressure ulcers, pain, spasticity and spasms.
