Call for Section Editors
Investigación en Discapacidad is a leading international scientific journal dedicated to the dissemination of high-quality research in the field of disability studies. We publish original research articles, reviews, case studies, and commentaries covering a wide range of topics related to disabilities, including but not limited to physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, social inclusion, accessibility, technological developments, and mental health. Description of the Role: We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our editorial team as the Section Editor. The Section Editors will play a crucial role in shaping the journal's content by overseeing the peer-review process, identifying emerging trends and topics in research related to disabilities, and collaborating with authors, reviewers, and other editorial team members to ensure the publication of high-quality and impactful research. The position is offered for two years and may be renewed.
Currently, the following positions are available:
- Mental Health (clinical)
- Rheumatology, musculoskeletal and autoimmune disorders (clinical or experimental)
- Neuroscience (clinical)
- Evidence synthesis and meta-research (clinical or experimental)
- Technology in disability research
- Burns (clinical or experimental)
- Interdisciplinary studies
Editor Workflow:

Manuscript Handling: The Section Editors will manage the review process for all submissions related to his/her field, including assigning manuscripts to appropriate reviewers, making editorial recommendations based on reviewer feedback and manuscript quality, and forwarding these recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief for final decision. They will also ensure timely communication with authors throughout the review process.

Peer Review Management: The Section Editors will work closely with our pool of expert reviewers to ensure thorough and constructive peer review of submitted manuscripts. This involves identifying potential reviewers, monitoring the progress of peer reviews, and providing guidance to reviewers to ensure fair and constructive feedback.

Content Development: The Section Editors will actively engage with authors, researchers, and practitioners to solicit high-quality submissions related to disabilities. They will also collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and other Section Editors to identify emerging topics and special issues within the field of disabilities.

Quality Control: The Section Editors will uphold the journal's standards of excellence by ensuring that all published articles meet rigorous scientific and ethical criteria. This includes conducting thorough evaluations of submitted manuscripts, addressing any concerns related to research integrity or ethical considerations, and working with authors to resolve any issues that may arise during the publication process.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field
- Expertise in scientific research, particularly as it relates to disabilities.
- Previous editorial experience, preferably in academic publishing or peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic publishing and research.
