Abstract

Psoriasis(PS) inflammatory, systemic and chronic skin disease causing thick, scaly plaques and red rash. Ps affects 2% of the general population, of multifactorial cause. Environmental includes stress, infections and bad lifestyles such as obesity, alcoholism, smoking and sedentary lifestyle aggravating Ps. Quality of life(QoL) is affected especially when skin lesions are in visible areas, severely impacting emotional level and self-esteem by social, family and peer rejection. Given the above, the question arises How are lifestyle behaviors related in the quality of life of people with psoriasis attending a rheumatology consultation, in a tertiary institution?
Objective: To know the lifestyles of patients with psoriasis who attend the Rheumatology consultation of the INR, and how these lifestyles interfere with their quality of life. Methodology. Descriptive, cross-sectional and observational study. sample determined by convenience, consisting of 104 adults with dx of psoriasis, attending the outpatient consultation of rheumatology of the INR, where prior informed consent, form is applied with: 1) Sociodemographic data, anthropometric, comorbidity and history of EV habits, 2) EV Performance Questionnaire that promotes health II, by Nola Pender, validated in Mexico, of 52 items, 6 dimensions: Health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, spiritual growth, interpersonal relationships and stress management, The Skindex-29 questionnaire, assesses health-related quality of life, 29 items in three domains: symptoms, emotions and functioning. The analysis was done through SPSS software, The reliability of the questionnaire with Cronbach’s alpha, 95% CI and p<0.001. Descriptive statistic (Fr and %) for qualitative variables and measures of central tendency and dispersion for quantitative ones. hypothesis test was chi square. Comparison of two means was done with Student's t for independent samples.
Results: Out of 104, 60% men, mean age 53.4 years(SD±12.3), 52.9% with partner relationship, high school education 25%, 68% currently working, 32% not working due to PS. 22.5% suffer from HTA, 37.5% has family with PS ( father 9.6%). 62.55% smoked and 29.8 % continue to ingest alcoholic beverages. 27% debuted with PS between 31 to 40 years and 42% has < 10 years with PS. The plaque injury subgroup 74%, arm area with visibility 46%, 50% perceive worse EV and 5.5% refers change of familiar EV. Overall EV Healthy and physical activity is unhealthy 45%. The impact on CV present in emotional and symptomatic dimension in 27.9%. all the time.
Conclusion: This study identifies characteristics and need for social, psychological, and physical sphere restructuring, so a multidisciplinary management that helps to promote EV and CV restructuring in these people is essential.
