Abstract

Pressure ulcers, are common complication for people with spinal cord
injury. One strategy to prevent them is to recommend wheelchair cushions for distributing interface pressure, in order to recommend and fit
wheelchair cushions it have to assess the interface pressure between the
user and their cushions. However this assessment is carried out in statics
conditions. Literature highlights, the importance of assessing the pressure
in wheelchair cushions, when the user is performing activities of daily
living, especially during wheelchair propulsion. In order to assess the
performance of wheelchair cushion during wheelchair propulsion, it developed software SAPD©. This work shows SAPD© usability assessment, the Heuristic Method was applied for three experts. The utility was
tested assessing the dynamics interface pressure of five patients’ wheelchair users. SAPD© has good performance and is useful to assess dynamics interface pressure, and it can use as tool for recommendation a
wheelchair cushion.
