Call for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Editor

Investigación en Discapacidad, a peer-reviewed journal that publishes cutting-edge research on disability-related issues, seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Editor. Our journal aims to advance knowledge, promote evidence-based practices, and inform policies that contribute to the well-being and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.

The EDI Editor will play a crucial role in upholding the journal's commitment to promoting diverse perspectives, ensuring equitable practices, and advancing inclusion within the disability research community and content published in the journal. This is a part-time position, for an initial term of two years.

Responsibilities:

  1. Actively seek and foster submissions from underrepresented groups and researchers studying equity, diversity, and inclusion in disability.
  2. Critically evaluate submissions through an equity lens, ensuring fair and unbiased peer-review processes.
  3. Work closely with the editorial team to develop and implement strategies to increase representation and amplify marginalized voices.
  4. Provide guidance and mentorship to authors from diverse backgrounds throughout the publication workflow.
  5. Contribute to developing editorial policies and initiatives focused on EDI themes.
  6. Represent the journal at relevant conferences, events, and forums addressing EDI in academia and disability research.

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in disability studies, rehabilitation sciences, social sciences, or a closely related field with expertise in EDI issues.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to advancing EDI through research, teaching, service, and advocacy.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  4. Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  5. Experience in academic publishing and peer review processes is highly desirable.
  6. Familiarity with best practices in promoting equity, accessibility, and inclusive excellence in scholarly publishing.
  7. Knowledge of current EDI trends, challenges, and best practices in disability research.
